Experience
1986: Graduated from the National Taiwan University of Arts with a degree in Voice.
1988: Admitted to Cremona Stradivari.
1989: Studied Violin Repair and Certification under Master Violin Makers Francesco Bissolotti and Alesandro Tossani
1991: Took 16th place in the Stradivari International Violin Making Competition (Italy). Ranking was the best performance achieved among Cremona Stradivari peers.
1991: Featured in an article published by Italy’s Il Mondo newspaper.
1992: Honored by Gold-Medal winning violinmaker, Francesco Bissolotti, with a “best student” award.
1992: Graduated with the highest violin making grades in his class. Awarded by the Italian Government a certification of Master Luthier.
1992: Won the silver award at the US International Violin Making Competition (Sandro and another violin maker earned equal points for the top award, so the 1992 competition awarded two silver medals and no gold). This is the highest international honor achieved to date by a violin maker from Taiwan.
1992: Founded his own workshop in Taipei dedicated to making, repairing, and certification.
1993: Featured on Music Conversation and in the magazine, CD Shopper.
1993: Interviewed by TTV News.
1996: Began teaching violin making technique to students in Taiwan.
2000~2003: Interviewed by Da Ai Television, CTV, CTS, TVBS, Minsheng Daily, Liberty Times,
United Daily News, Bridge Magazine (published by the Universal String Society of America), Next Magazine,
Good E@rth for Kids, FHM (UK), Global Views Monthly,
Dynasty (China Airlines’ in-flight magazine), and World Journal (US).
2002: Moved studio to a new location at 9FL, 79-1 Roosevelt Rd., Sec. 2 (next to the Kuting MRT Station).
Chiao Chung-Hsing is dedicated to excellence in handcrafting the finest violins, teaching aspiring new violinmakers, and violin repair and maintenance.
